The Colours of Arabia People Landscapes Pencils Guestbook
The Artist
Elizabeth Wolstenholme – Riley
History and Background
Born in Manchester England, over the past 15 years I have been pencil sketching and painting in water colours the people, landscapes and scenes of the Arabia peninsular, in related studies I have Royal College of Arts certificates in Commerce and last year I completed my BA in Fine Arts.
I married David a marine engineer in 1968 and with his work we traveled the world, in 1982 we came to Riyadh and have lived here continuously apart from my repatriation during the first gulf war. We spend our summer vacations in England on the south coast in a resort called Torquay.
Ideas, Inspirations, Palette to Picture
My ideas and inspirations basically came from living in the community of the village called Al Hair by the Riyadh River. During the past year I have completed a collection on Janadriyha a local event now becoming world renowned for its racing camels and colour, presently I am working on a collection of paintings based on the travelers of Arabia during the early 1900’s including a period associated with the exploits Lawrence.
A day in the life of …
I just seem to be awful busy, up every morning at 6am I take Jack the desert dog out for a walk, he is 11 years old now, David’s gone to work, every Monday I attend art classes otherwise before lunch I have been out shopping, caught up on my e-mails. Afternoons are my quite time, Jack goes out for his regular walk, I like to read Agatha Christie novels; but more often than not I am in the study working on paintings and sketches
There are more than 145 water colours and sketches in my portfolio and I hope you take some enjoyment from my work.
Thank you for visiting my web site. Please take a moment to sign my guestbook.
